2025·2026·2027

The organiser publishes two dates for 2027 on the same page: the header and both course pages say July 24 and 25, and its own Future Dates list says August 14 and 15. Its registration platform says July 24 and 25, and its 2027 entry window closes on August 9, which only works for the August date. Nothing here is settled, so we are not picking one.

Registration opens January 1, 2027.

About

Wy'east Trailfest runs on the eastern flank of Mount Hood, on the ridges and high traverses above the Hood River valley, and everything finishes at the Mt. Hood Meadows ski area. Wy'east is the mountain's older name.

The 50 miler starts furthest out, at the Underhill Site, and runs 50 miles with 10,650 feet of climbing over Fifteenmile, Surveyors Ridge, High Prairie, Bennett Pass and Umbrella Falls. The 50K starts later the same morning at Surveyors Ridge and takes the last 31.1 miles of the same line, with 6,900 feet. Both descend more than they climb, because both start higher up the valley than they finish.

A 28K, a half marathon, a 14K and an 8K run alongside them. Daybreak Racing, which also puts on the Hood Hundred at the same ski area, runs it. The 2026 edition was canceled the day before the weekend for the Grasshopper Fire, which had already forced both ultras onto multi-loop courses inside the Meadows permit area.

Course

Both ultras are point to point and net downhill, on singletrack and forest road through the Mt. Hood National Forest. The 50 miler has seven aid stations and the 50K five, and both are cupless.

Every 50K runner has to ride the shuttle bus to the start; no drop-offs are allowed there. The 50 miler's shuttle is optional, and its runners may be dropped off at the Underhill Site instead.

How to register
