Perpetua Coast

Perpetua Coast starts and finishes at The Adobe Resort in Yachats, on the central Oregon coast, and runs a lollipop loop into the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, where the headland stands 800 feet above the Pacific. The 50K covers 31.1 miles with 5,700 feet of climbing: a stretch of beach early on, then almost entirely dirt singletrack through coastal rainforest, with ocean views most of the way. Daybreak Racing, which also puts on the Hood Hundred and Backcountry Rise, runs it.

The weekend holds four races. The 50K and a 20 miler go on the Saturday, a half marathon and a 10K on the Sunday. Rainshadow Running held the event as the Oregon Coast trail runs from 2014 to 2021, and Daybreak took it on after that.

A lollipop loop from The Adobe Resort with four aid stations, out along 2.7 miles of beach with a few creek crossings, then across Highway 101 into the hillier Cape Perpetua Scenic Area on singletrack. The finish is at 31.1 miles with 5,700 feet of climbing and the same in descent. The race warns that the footbridges are slick in the rain. Pacers are not allowed under the event permit; poles are allowed after the first aid station.

Open sign-up on UltraSignup, priced in three tiers from March 1, with no lottery and no qualifying standard. The race publishes no field cap. Elite entries are held back for professional runners who write in before September 15.
