About
The Chiltern Wonderland 50 is one 50-mile loop through the Chiltern Hills, starting and finishing in the riverside village of Goring-on-Thames. It takes the hilliest stretch of the Thames Path down to Whitchurch, joins the Chiltern Way at Mapledurham, and then works through the climbs and valleys the Chilterns are known for: Bix, Stonor Deer Park, the steep pull out of Turville past Cobstone Windmill, and the highest point on the course at Christmas Common, 800 feet. It comes home on the Ridgeway and Grim's Ditch.
The course is marked and holds 5,600 feet of climb. The race has run since 2016 and 2026 is its eleventh edition. It starts at 8:30 a.m. with a 13-hour cutoff and five aid stations, for a field of 250. Entry is first come, first served and needs a marathon finish since 2021. The race is one of the four legs of Centurion Running's Grand Slam of 50s, run in the same calendar year as the South Downs Way 50, the North Downs Way 50 and the Wendover Woods 50.

How to register
Entry is first come, first served through Centurion Running for a field of 250. Entries for 2026 opened at 10:00 on 11 October 2025 and sold out on 5 July 2026; the organiser now says the waiting list is full as well, so there is no way left into this year's race. A place needs a marathon-distance finish inside that race's own cutoff since 1 January 2021, and unqualified runners may enter but are contacted about eight weeks out to verify their plans. The fee is 115 pounds for UK Athletics members and 117 for unattached runners. Runners can also enter as part of Centurion's Grand Slam of 50s, which covers all four of its 50-mile races and was itself full for 2026.
