Wendover Woods 50

The Wendover Woods 50 is five 10-mile laps of forest trail run entirely inside Wendover Woods, the Forestry England woodland at Aston Hill above Aylesbury. The organiser bills it as wide, soft trail and runnable climbs set against much steeper ascents and descents scattered through the lap, and the numbers back the second half of that: 50 miles with 10,000 feet of climb, as much as Centurion Running's own Winter Downs 100 holds over twice the distance.

The race has run since 2016 and 2026 is its tenth edition. It starts at 9:30 a.m. in November and holds a 15-hour cutoff, so the last laps are run in the dark, for a field of 250. It is the fourth and final leg of Centurion's Grand Slam of 50s, after the South Downs Way 50, the North Downs Way 50 and the Chiltern Wonderland 50, and the Slam awards are presented at its finish line.

Five 10-mile laps on forest trails and tracks entirely within Wendover Woods, starting and finishing at Trig Point Field on Aston Hill at Halton, near Aylesbury. 50 miles with 10,000 feet of climb, 99 percent trail, a 9:30 a.m. start and a 15-hour cutoff. There are two aid-station sites and nine visits to them: Hale Lane partway through each lap, and the start field at the end of every lap but the last. The course is marked, though not every road crossing is marshalled, and it is cupless. No pacers or crew are allowed.

Entry is first come, first served through Centurion Running for a field of 250, with no entry on the day; the exception is runners who gave more than eight hours of volunteer service in 2025 and asked for a guaranteed place. Entries for 2026 opened at 10:00 on 6 December 2025, are still open on SiEntries, and close on 26 October 2026 or when the field fills. A place needs a marathon-distance finish inside that race's own cutoff since 1 January 2021, and unqualified runners may enter but are contacted about eight weeks out to verify their plans. The fee is 115 pounds for UK Athletics members and 117 for unattached runners. Runners can also enter as part of Centurion's Grand Slam of 50s, which covers all four of its 50-mile races and was full for 2026.
