About
The TDS leaves Courmayeur late on Monday night of UTMB week and takes the long, rough way to Chamonix: about 145 kilometers with 9,500 meters of climbing over the Savoy side of the massif, through Bourg-Saint-Maurice and the Beaufortain. It is the technical race of the week, with exposed ridgelines and steep, wild descents the UTMB course itself avoids.
The night start sends every runner through at least one full night, and the course's reputation for difficulty means a slower, more selective field than its distance suggests.
Course
Courmayeur to Chamonix the hard way: over the Petit Saint-Bernard toward Bourg-Saint-Maurice, through the Beaufortain's steep grass and rock, and back north over the Col de Tricot to Chamonix. About 145 km with 9,500 m of climbing, most of it technical.
