About

Grand Raid Ventoux by UTMB is run from Malaucène, at the foot of Mont Ventoux in Provence, by the firefighters of the Vaucluse fire service, and two euros from every bib goes to the fund for firefighters' orphans. Its longest race, the Ultra Géant de Provence, starts at 11:59 p.m. on the Friday and covers 125 km with 5,700 m of climbing. It runs through the Toulourenc gorges from Entrechaux to Saint-Léger-du-Ventoux, climbs to the summit of Mont Ventoux, drops to Lac du Paty and Le Barroux, and crosses the Dentelles de Montmirail to Gigondas before coming back to Malaucène.

The Grande Epopée Ventoux, 87 km, also reaches the summit and comes down through the mountain's rock fields past the Chapelle du Piaud to the Col de la Chaîne. The Mistral Marathon Trail, 51 km, follows the first kilometres of the Ventoux road and then the GR4 to the top. The Ultra Géant is a Western States 100 qualifier.

Course

The Ultra Géant has checkpoint cutoffs at Entrechaux, Veaux, Mont Serein, Le Barroux and Gigondas. Each race page states its time limit (29:30, 19:40 and 11:50), while the time charts still carry the 2026 finish cutoffs and close the Grande Epopée at 2:30 a.m. and the Mistral Marathon at 6:30 p.m., twenty and ten minutes later than their stated limits. The weekend's 26 km Trail des Coteaux is shorter than an ultra.

How to register

For 2027 the Mistral Marathon Trail was a lottery for UTMB Index holders, run from September 7 to 13, 2026, with part of the field kept for residents of the Vaucluse and the Drôme. The other races opened to UTMB Index holders on September 21 and to everyone on September 23, first come, first served. Every race is sold out, and the organiser says there will be no waiting list and no reopening. Entries cannot be transferred or deferred, and refunds are available only through the cancellation insurance.
