About
Nice Côte d'Azur by UTMB runs its fifth edition in September 2026, over five distances from 23 km to 165 km. Every race finishes in the same place, on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, and the long ones get there by starting high in the Alpes-Maritimes and running south until the mountains give way to the Mediterranean.
The 100M starts at the ski resort of Auron and the 100K at the cliff village of Roubion, both inside the Mercantour. Each is a Western States 100 qualifier, at standards stricter than the race's own limits: sub-48:00 against a 50-hour cutoff on the 100M, sub-28:00 against 30 hours on the 100K. In April 2026 the City of Nice withdrew its financial support for the event, and UTMB said it would hold the 2026 edition anyway, noting that some adjustments might be needed.
Course
The 100M climbs from Auron to its high point above 2,650 m at Rabuons, runs out towards Colle Longue near the Italian border, crosses the Tinée and traverses a ridge above 2,000 m before turning south. It finishes over the four hills of Leuze, Vinaigrier, Alban and Boron, which drop the race onto the coast at Nice.
The 100K starts lower, at Roubion on the southern edge of the Mercantour National Park, and joins the 100M course on the ridges between the Tinée and Vésubie valleys before taking the same four hills to the sea. Both races start in waves, which is why the published closing times are later than the stated limits: the 100M closes at 3:15 p.m. on the Sunday and the 100K at 2:45 p.m.
How to register
Entry is first come, first served, with no lottery and no waiting list. Runners holding a UTMB Index get a priority window two days before general entry opens, and the 100M is open only to runners with a valid UTMB Index from a 50K, 100K or 100M. The 2026 edition is sold out on every distance. A charity bib route stays open separately, at a 500 euro donation on top of the entry fee.
