About
Trail du Saint-Jacques by UTMB finishes in the upper town of Le Puy-en-Velay, and all three of its ultras run point to point into the town. The Ultra, sold as the 100M, is 140 km with 6,000 m of climbing on a limit of 30 hours 50 minutes. It starts in Saugues at 7 p.m. on the Friday, heads towards Prades, and crosses Mont Devès, Mont Recours, the Lac du Bouchet and Mont Eycenac, with the Col de Pierre Taillée and the Col de la Durande along the way.
The Grand Trail, sold as the 100K, is 88 km with 3,600 m. It starts in Monistrol-d'Allier on the Saturday morning, climbs to the Rochegude peak above the Allier gorges, and goes by the Lac du Bouchet, the Devès and the scree slopes of the Chibottes before a last climb to the cathedral of Notre-Dame du Puy. The Monistrail, sold as the 50K, is 55 km with 2,100 m and starts from Monistrol-d'Allier on the Sunday. It climbs to the Chapelle de Rochegude early and finishes over Mont Devès and the Chibottes. The Ultra is a Western States 100 qualifier.
Course
The Grand Trail's limit is 18 hours and the Monistrail's 11 hours 30 minutes. The weekend's Les Chibottes (28 km) and Le 12 du Dolaizon are shorter than an ultra.
