Wendover Woods 50 2025

Joseph Turner won the 2025 Wendover Woods 50 in 7:17:43 and Veronika Gill won the women's race in 9:16:30. Daniel Weller was second man in 7:41:01 and Johnny Hesnan third in 8:03:34; Zoe Smith was second woman in 9:30:35 with Rebecca Di-Luzio third in 9:43:57.

Turner, who had won the Chiltern Wonderland 50 in a course record eight weeks earlier, led from the gun and finished 44 seconds outside Stuart Leaney's 2018 mark, which Centurion Running says was still live with 200 metres to run. It is the second fastest time the race has had. Matt Hammerton held second until his race came apart late on the third lap and Weller went past him at the aid station. Gill and Smith went hardest early, Smith led by four minutes at mile 20, and Gill came back past her around 50 km and pulled away from there.

Storm Claudia had put heavy rain across the Friday, and race day was overcast and misty over the start field while the woods themselves stayed clear of it. Vanessa Dolling took 27 minutes off the FV50 record, and Jason Leaf set a new MV50 mark in 8:40, fourth overall.
