About
The Miwok 100K starts and finishes at the Stinson Beach Community Center, on the coast just north of San Francisco, and spends the day in the Marin Headlands and on Mount Tamalpais: up the Dipsea Trail, down to Muir Beach, out past Tennessee Valley to a view of the Golden Gate Bridge, then back over the mountain and north along Bolinas Ridge through the redwoods. It began in 1996 with 69 starters and has started and finished at Stinson Beach since 2012. Magda Boulet has directed it since 2023, and it now runs as the Miwok 100K presented by The North Face.
The limit is 15 hours 30 minutes, set by the park: the race starts at 5 a.m. and the finish closes at 8:30 p.m., with no early starts. A finish inside the limit counts as a Western States 100 qualifier.
Course
Out-and-back legs from a single start and finish at the Stinson Beach Community Center, 62.2 miles in all, with 11,501 feet of elevation change by the race's own figure. The first half climbs the Dipsea to Cardiac, drops to Muir Beach and Green Gulch, and runs through Tennessee Valley and Marincello to the SCA Trail above the Golden Gate Bridge before returning by Pirates' Cove, Muir Beach and Cardiac. The second half goes by Pan Toll and the Matt Davis Trail out along Bolinas Ridge to the Randall Trailhead and back. Intermediate cutoffs sit at Tennessee Valley, Muir Beach, Cardiac, Randall and Bolinas Ridge.
How to register
Entry is first come, first served on RunSignUp, with a field limit of 400 and a waitlist once it fills, and the race says it sells out quickly. Eight hours of volunteering at this year's race earns priority registration for the next. A limited number of fundraising entries come with a 16-week training plan. Registration for the May 1, 2027 race opens on November 7, 2026 at 6 a.m. Pacific.
