A UTMB World Series weekend on Mexico's Pacific coast in March: the Hikuri 81K, which leaves Puerto Vallarta's Malecón at midnight and climbs 3,900 m into the Sierra Madre, and the Nakawé 53K.

About
Puerto Vallarta México by UTMB starts and finishes on the Malecón, the seafront boardwalk of Puerto Vallarta in Jalisco, and climbs from the beach into the Sierra Madre Occidental. The Hikuri 81K starts at midnight going into the Friday and covers 81 km with 3,900 m of climbing on a 20½-hour limit, up through the pine forest at the top of the range and back down through the coastal jungle along the Cuale River. The Nakawé 53K starts four hours later and covers 53 km with 2,500 m.
Both ultras carry Wixárika names: Hikuri for the wise man, the master teacher, and Nakawé for the grandmother who created the world. The 2026 edition ran in mid-April, and the race moves to early March for 2027.
Course
Both ultras start and finish on the Malecón. The Hikuri 81K leaves at midnight and runs out through Aguacatera, El Hundido and El Jorullo to a high loop through Jaguar, Barandillas and Uma, then comes back through San Pedro, La Venada and Canopy to the finish, which closes at 8:30 p.m. Friday. The Nakawé 53K leaves at 4 a.m. on the same line as far as El Jorullo and San Pedro, turns back through La Venada and Canopy, and closes at 5:30 p.m. The weekend's Haramara 37K, Ereno 20K and Pata Salada 5K are shorter than an ultra.

Entries are sold on the race's site through a MyUTMB account, with one link priced in US dollars for international runners and one in pesos for Mexican runners, and registration for 2027 is open.
