About
The North Face Transgrancanaria crosses the island of Gran Canaria from north to south: a 23:59 Friday start on the sand of Las Canteras beach in Las Palmas, a night climbing into the volcanic interior, and a finish 126 kilometers later at Parque Sur in Maspalomas after 6,764 meters of climbing. The Classic is part of the World Trail Majors, and its late-February date has made it the traditional season opener where Europe's best ultrarunners first test their winter training.
The Classic anchors a week of racing that includes the Advanced (82 km), Marathon, Half, and a vertical kilometer, together drawing thousands of runners to the island.
Course
North to south across the island: from sea level at Las Canteras beach in Las Palmas over the mountainous volcanic interior, then the long descent to the finish at Parque Sur in Maspalomas. 126 kilometers with 6,764 meters of positive elevation and a 30-hour limit.
How to register
Registration is first come, first served through Rockthesport and the shorter races regularly sell out months ahead. Classic entrants must upload a medical certificate for their registration to be valid.
