About
Ultra Trail Chattanooga by UTMB is new for 2027, and it's the first UTMB World Series event in the southeastern United States. Both ultras start at Erlanger Park in Chattanooga. The 100K goes off at 6 a.m. on the Saturday and runs point to point on an 18-hour limit, with 7,995 ft of climbing. It climbs to Covenant College on Lookout Mountain, drops through the Moonshine Trails into the Lula Lake Land Trust past Lula Falls, and follows the Cloudland Canyon Connector through the Five Points and Durham Mine trail systems. It finishes in Cloudland Canyon State Park after running the East and West Rim Trails.
The 50K starts an hour later and is 31.4 miles with 3,818 ft of climbing. It's a loop on Lookout Mountain, over the Far Enough, Guild and Upper Gum trails and through the Lookout Mountain Conservancy and the Chattanooga National Military Park, and it comes back through St. Elmo to finish in Erlanger Park.
Course
The 100K's finish closes at midnight on the Saturday and the 50K's at 5 p.m. The weekend's 20K is shorter than an ultra.
How to register
Entry for 2027 opened to UTMB Index holders on August 18, 2026 and to everyone on August 20, first come, first served, with no lottery. It closes on May 30, 2027 or when the races sell out, and there's no waiting list. Prices can rise at any time.
