About
The Vermont 100 has run every July since 1989, and it grew out of a horse endurance ride: runners still share the weekend with a simultaneous 100-mile ride, the only known 100 where that still happens. The course loops from Silver Hill Meadow in West Windsor over dirt roads, farm lanes, and wooded trail with about 17,000 feet of climbing, a 4:00 a.m. start, and a 30-hour cutoff. A 100K starts at 9:00 a.m. the same Saturday.
It is one of the four races of the Grand Slam of Ultrarunning, with Western States, Leadville, and Wasatch, and both distances count as Western States 100 qualifiers. The field is capped at 450 runners, filled by winter lottery, and all proceeds support Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports.
Course
A loop from Silver Hill Meadow in West Windsor over dirt roads, farm lanes, and wooded trails, with about 17,000 feet of climbing. The 100-mile starts at 4:00 a.m. Saturday and allows 30 hours; the 100K starts at 9:00 a.m. the same day.
How to register
Entry is by lottery: early registration in December for qualified runners, then the general draw in early January. $425 for the 100-mile and $375 for the 100K, capped at 450 runners across both distances. 100-mile entrants need a qualifier (a 50-mile in under 12 hours, or equivalent), and every runner owes eight hours of volunteer service.
