How it went
Matt Gallagher won the 2026 Thames Path 100 in 15:39:32, and Karla Borland won the women's race in 17:21:56, third across the line. Sergey Ionov was second man in 17:09:27, and Guido Pastore and Francesco Sgarlata dead-heated for third in 17:40:45; Zoe Smith followed Borland in 18:00:10 with Laura Ricci third woman in 20:33:46. Gray Baker took the non-binary category in 23:08:51.
Borland, a Northern Ireland international at 100 km, took the lead from Jana de Waal at Cookham at mile 38 and, in Centurion Running's account, never really looked back. The men's race went the other way: Will Collie and James Bennett ran several miles clear of the field before Collie stopped at Cookham with a shin problem and Bennett dropped back, leaving the eventual podium to come from behind them. Ionov reached Oxford in 16:09 and was given a one-hour time penalty for missing an item of mandatory kit, which is where his official 17:09:27 comes from.
A sunny, humid first day gave way to heavy evening showers and then a dry, warm Sunday. Exactly 200 runners finished, among them Jan Payne, the first FV70 to finish any Centurion 100 in the series' 66 runnings, in 27:48.
