Rerouted before the start for the Grasshopper Fire and the Forest Service closure order that followed: seven clockwise loops inside the Mt. Hood Meadows ski area, 100.6 miles with about 20,000 feet of climbing and a 35-hour limit rather than the regular course's 34. Smoke from the same fire then halted the race at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, with the runners still out stopped at the aid stations.

How it went
Jake Southard won the 2026 Hood Hundred in 21:48:05, and Rachel Hawkins won the women's race in 23:14:06, fourth overall. Matthew Jungers led the men's race for its first nine timing mats and 65.5 miles, then stopped. Southard, second at that point, was in front from mile 72.4 on and finished 1:07:15 ahead of Joe O'Hala. Hawkins led the women's race at all thirteen mats.
The race never reached its 35-hour limit. The Grasshopper Fire had already pushed the course off the mountain and onto seven loops of the Mt. Hood Meadows ski area a week before the start; on the night of the race the west wind that had kept the air clear died away, and smoke from that fire settled over the loop. Daybreak Racing halted the race at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, saying it was "no longer safe to allow the event to continue," and runners still on course were stopped at the aid stations.
