How it went
Ludovic Pommeret won his third straight Hardrock at age 50, breaking his own overall course record by nearly 22 minutes in 21:11:36 and leading almost wire to wire. Courtney Dauwalter took the women's race in 26:03:10, more than eight minutes under her own clockwise record.
Jimmy Elam took second in the men's race in 23:48:56, and David Ayala moved up from fourth last year to take third in 24:28:17. Careth Arnold was second among the women in 30:32:31 in her Hardrock debut, and Tara Dower finished third in 33:02:04 just thirteen days after placing sixth at Western States. Pre-race favorite Tom Evans dropped near mile 58 with altitude trouble.
