Javelina Jundred 2026: Live Updates as a Flood Watch Arrives
October 31, 2026
The 2026 Javelina Jundred started Saturday morning at McDowell Mountain, Arizona, with a Flood Watch due to begin at 11 p.m. The 100 Mile runs in waves at 6:00 and 6:30 a.m. with the 100K at 7:00, and the 100 Mile's 30-hour limit keeps runners on course until about midday Sunday. This post follows the race as it runs.
How many Golden Tickets are on offer at Javelina?
Four. Western States lists Javelina as a Golden Ticket race for the top two men and top two women in the 100 Mile, so those four finish in ticket position for the 2027 race. The result will go here when the front of the race has settled, with the times from the race and anything that changes on the course overnight.
What is the weather forecast for Javelina?
The National Weather Service has the area under a Flood Watch from 11 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday, and it says low-water crossings may flood. Its forecast for the park has showers and thunderstorms arriving Saturday evening, 1 to 2 inches of rain Saturday night and 1 to 2 more on Sunday. Saturday's high should be near 76 and the overnight low around 60.
What has the race told runners?
The race says the course "received significant rain Friday" and told runners to prepare for "a wet, cool night", with warm layers, rain gear, extra socks and waterproof drop bags. Crews have a warning too: "Flowing washes may also delay aid-station pickups or require alternate pickup locations." It has announced no change to the course.
Will the live tracking keep working?
Maybe not all night. The race says "Rain may cause gaps or delays in live tracking. Final results will not be affected." So a runner who stops updating overnight may simply be out of contact. Live tracking and the Mountain Outpost stream are the two places to follow it.
Who runs into the rain?
Not the leaders, if this year looks like last. Will Murray set the course record in 12:10:12 in 2025 and Tara Dower set the women's record in 13:31:47, and those times put a winner across the line by about 7:30 p.m. Anyone from the first wave who is slower than 17 hours will still be out when the watch begins, on a course that runs through sandy washes, and 492 runners finished the 100 Mile last year.
