How it went
Ngô Văn Chính of the Sapa Ethnic Running Club won the 2025 VMM 100 km in 13:00:10, which the organiser called a course record, and Wenfei Xie of China won the women's race in 17:24:33. Vàng A Tung won the 70 km in 9:10:58 and Lưu Hồng Vân the women's race in 11:52:42, by under three minutes.
There was no 100 mile in 2025. The race does not hold its miler every year: it ran in 2022 and 2024, sat out 2023 and 2025, and comes back in 2026.
Both ultras ran their full distance to their full time limits. The 100 km's last finisher came in at 27:58:20 against a midnight closing time, with under two minutes to spare, and 91 of its 298 finishers arrived in the final hour. The organiser described the day as unfolding under perfect weather, which is not a given here: the 2024 edition was postponed when Typhoon Yagi hit Lao Cai.
