About
The Umstead 100 runs eight 12.5-mile loops on the wide crushed-gravel bridle trails of William B. Umstead State Park, on the edge of Raleigh. The hills roll rather than climb, 8,000 feet in all, and the surface is forgiving, which makes it one of the more common places to run a first hundred or a fast one. A 50-mile shares the course, and the race has run each spring since 1995.
The race starts at 6:00 a.m. and holds a 30-hour cutoff. Entry is first come, first served and fills fast, opening in September for the following spring, and a finish counts as a Western States 100 qualifier.
Course
Eight 12.5-mile loops on the crushed-gravel bridle and multi-use trails of William B. Umstead State Park: rolling hills, 8,000 feet of climb over the hundred miles, on a forgiving surface. The race starts at 6:00 a.m. and holds a 30-hour cutoff.

Registration is first come, first served and fills quickly; it opens September 16, 2026 for the 2027 race. The event also offers a 50-mile.
