South Downs Way 50 2026

Matthew Hammerton won the 2026 South Downs Way 50 in 5:47:24 and Amelie Karlsson won the women's race in 7:02:23. David Green was second man in 5:51:31 and Paul Grieve third in 6:32:00; Hayley Green was second woman in 7:34:43 with Katie Brazier third in 7:47:27.

The fourteenth running had a tailwind along the exposed ridge for most of the day, where the year before it had blown against. Hammerton's 5:47 is the second fastest 50 mile run in Centurion Running's fourteen years and Green's 5:51 the third. Karlsson finished eight minutes off Julia Davis's course record, the second fastest a woman has run here. Claire Howard was fourth overall in 7:54, a time 45 minutes inside the FV50 record and quicker than every FV40 as well.

402 of the 424 starters finished. Four of them were still out with 45 seconds left on the clock: Tabitha Codd was the last across, in 12:59:57.
