How it went

David Green won the 2026 South Downs Way 100 in 13:27:13 and Sarah Webster won the women's race in 14:27:34, both course records; Webster was sixth across the line. Matthew Hammerton was second man in 13:38:37 and Hugh Tibbs third in 13:46:16; Maryline Nakache followed Webster in 15:39:57 with Robyn Cassidy third woman in 15:59:25. Gray Baker took the non-binary category in 23:27:37.

The race doubled as the British Trail Running Championships at ultra distance and as the sixth stop on the World Trail Majors circuit, and Centurion Running called it the most competitive 100-mile race ever held on UK soil. Green took the lead at Housdean Farm, the last drop-bag point at mile 77. Webster won by 2 hours and 3 minutes, a time the organiser calls the fastest by a woman at any of its events. Tibbs made the start with 38 seconds to spare after road closures held him up, having run a six-minute mile and climbed five fences to get to the pen.

153 of the field broke 24 hours, on a finish rate Centurion Running puts at over 70 percent.
