About

The Oil Creek 100 Trail Runs start and finish at Titusville Middle School in northwest Pennsylvania, and almost all of the racing happens on the Gerard Hiking Trail in Oil Creek State Park, the valley where the world's first commercial oil well was drilled. The race motto is "Strike oil or move on!"

Every distance uses the same 50K loop, run counterclockwise. The 50K runs it once, the 100K twice, and the 100 miler three times before a 7.6-mile last loop past the Boughton Acid Works, for 100.6 miles and 17,785 feet of climbing. The first edition was in 2009, and the 100K replaced the original 50 miler in 2010. Nick Kopp holds the official 100 mile record of 17:04:50 from 2015, and Ashley Lister holds the women's records at all three distances.

Course

One 50K loop of the Gerard Hiking Trail in Oil Creek State Park, run counterclockwise from Titusville Middle School. The 50K runs it once (5,459 feet of gain), the 100K twice (11,010 feet), and the 100 miler three times plus a 7.6-mile final loop past the Boughton Acid Works, 100.6 miles and 17,785 feet in all. The Gerard Hiking Trail is singletrack through a valley of deep hollows and steep hillsides.

The distances start an hour apart: the 100 miler at 5:00 a.m. Saturday, the 100K at 6:00, the 50K at 7:00 and a 25K at 9:00. The 100 miler has 32 hours and the 100K 31, both ending at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, and the 50K has until midnight Saturday. The home page and the race's RunSignUp listing give slightly different climbs (17,627 feet for the 100, 11,026 for the 100K); these figures are the course page's.
