How it went
Hugo Deck won the 2026 Diagonale des Fous in 22:54:19, 57 minutes ahead of Robin Juillaguet, with Jérôme Vanderschaeghe of Belgium third in 24:10:35. Ruth Croft of New Zealand won the women's race in 27:13:23, an hour and 13 minutes ahead of Alyssa Clark of the United States, and Agathe Bes was third in 29:05:19. Tom Evans, one of the favourites, finished seventh in 26:21:33.
This year's route was the longest Diagonale yet, 180 km with 10,200 m of climbing from Saint-Pierre to Saint-Denis by way of the Salazie cirque and Hell-Bourg. A rockfall closed the trail through Mafate between Roche Plate and La Brèche on October 7, and the organiser had a reroute ready, but the trail reopened on October 13 and the race ran its planned course. The race allows 66 hours, to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
