About
The Canadian Death Race sends runners over three mountain summits and across the Smoky River at Hell's Gate, on a 118-kilometre loop that starts and finishes on the plateau at Grande Cache, Alberta. Sinister Sports runs it. The course climbs 4,770 metres over Flood Mountain, Grande Mountain, and Mount Hamell, and much of the field tackles it as a five-person relay; the solo ultra is the Western States 100 qualifier.
The solo starts at 8:00 a.m. on the Saturday of the August long weekend and holds a 24-hour cutoff. The relay divides the same course into five legs.
Course
A 118-kilometre loop over three summits, Flood Mountain, Grande Mountain, and Mount Hamell, with a crossing of the Smoky River at Hell's Gate, starting and finishing at Central Park in Grande Cache: 4,770 metres of climbing. The solo starts at 8:00 a.m. Saturday with a 24-hour cutoff.
How to register
Registration is on Race Roster and the event caps at 1,000 racers. The 118K can be run solo or as a five-person relay.
