About
The Burning River 100 runs the valley carved by the Cuyahoga River, through Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Summit Metro Parks, and the towns north of Akron. Western Reserve Racing puts it on. The current course is an out and back from Cuyahoga Falls to Silver Springs Park and back, roughly 70 miles of singletrack and bridle trail with stretches of crushed-limestone towpath and road, and about 8,000 feet of climbing, gentle by 100-mile standards.
The 100 starts at 4:00 a.m. with a 30-hour cutoff; a 2:00 a.m. early start is offered, which extends the limit to 32 hours. Run since 2007, it is one of the original Midwest 100s and the third leg of the Midwest Grand Slam. A finish counts as a Western States 100 qualifier.
