New out-and-back course for 2026. With Highway 2 closed by winter storm damage and the Eaton Fire closure area still shut, the race starts and finishes at Loma Alta Park in Altadena and turns around near Mt Hillyer: 100.8 miles on a 33-hour limit, closing at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4.

About
The Angeles Crest 100 has run through the San Gabriel Mountains above Los Angeles since 1986, historically point-to-point from Wrightwood to Altadena. The course mixes high pine ridgelines with hot, exposed canyon miles surprisingly close to the city.
For 2026, long-term closures on Highway 2 forced a full course change: the 36th running starts and finishes in Altadena.
Course
Full course change for 2026: with Highway 2 closed long-term and the Eaton Fire closure area shut, the race runs a 100.8-mile out-and-back from Loma Alta Park in Altadena through Clear Creek, Josephine Peak, Red Box, Newcomb, Shortcut and Chilao to a turnaround near Mt Hillyer, returning by Chantry Flats, Mt Wilson, the Mueller Tunnel and Sam Merrill. The race says it will return to the Wrightwood-to-Altadena point-to-point when access and safety allow.
How to register
Entry is by lottery, alongside a Sterling Silver Ticket series of races that award guaranteed spots. Every entrant must complete eight hours of trail maintenance before race day.
