New loop course for 2026. With Highway 2 closed by winter storm damage and the Eaton Fire closure area still shut, the race starts and finishes at Loma Alta Park in Altadena, turns around at Mt Hillyer and comes back by Chantry Flat and Mt Wilson: 100.8 miles and 20,000 feet of climb on a 33-hour limit, closing at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4.

About
The Angeles Crest 100 has run through the San Gabriel Mountains above Los Angeles since 1986, historically point-to-point from Wrightwood to Altadena. The course mixes high pine ridgelines with hot, exposed canyon miles surprisingly close to the city.
For 2026, long-term closures on Highway 2 forced a full course change: the 36th running starts and finishes in Altadena.
Course
Full course change for 2026: with Highway 2 closed long-term and the Eaton Fire closure area shut, the race runs a 100.8-mile loop from Loma Alta Park in Altadena, out through Clear Creek, Josephine Peak, Red Box, Newcomb, Shortcut and Chilao to a turnaround at Mt Hillyer, then back by Chantry Flat, Mt Wilson, the Mueller Tunnel and Sam Merrill. It lists 20,000 feet of climb, between 1,147 and 6,194 feet of elevation. The race says it will return to the Wrightwood-to-Altadena point-to-point when access and safety allow.
How to register
Entry is by lottery, alongside a Sterling Silver Ticket series of races that award guaranteed spots. Every entrant must complete eight hours of trail maintenance before race day.
